Episode 205 | Grace vs. Shame in Parenting with Ruth Chou Simons

Are you looking for ways to motivate your kids without making them feel guilty or ashamed? Have you considered how shaming might harm your child’s emotional and spiritual well-being? Join Katy and me along with special guest, Ruth Chou Simons, as we discuss how we can model biblical repentance and God’s grace rather than promoting self-shame in our children.

We have a brand new episode of the Parenting with Ginger Hubbard podcast available today. Here’s a little more about what you can expect:

Episode 205 | Grace vs. Shame in Parenting with Ruth Chou Simons: Shaming is when we’re trying to produce a bad feeling in our kids to try and manipulate to get the results we want. It’s important that we remind ourselves that we want our kids to be motivated out of a desire to love and serve God, not by a parent-inflicted guilt trip. What is so compelling about redemption is that we are overwhelmed with gratitude for what Christ has done, and we want our kids to see us living that out each and every day. Admonishment is correction and pointing to what is right with God’s Word and realignment to God’s truth. So let’s be students of God’s grace and model biblical repentance, and let’s remember that everything we do is by grace through faith.
